The U.L. ‘Rip’ Gooch book Black Horizons is a wonderful book that we have incorporated into our curriculum in our Aviation Program and in our JROTC Classes because of its tremendous historical. social and motivational value. The book demonstrates the idea that it is not where we come from but, how we prepare ourselves for life and where we end up that is of greater significance. Rip Gooch has been an inspiration to my students and staff and provides hope for our children’s future. It affirms our belief that our heroes are not in Hollywood or on TV but in the form of everyday people and right in our midst and every child can become that hero.
